Seal-it® 214 SILICON-AW

Seal-it® 214 SILICON-AW is a superbly weather-resistant, durable and neutral-curing sealant that is specially developed for general glazing and sealing of curtain walls and other façades, is based on silicone technology and moisture-cures into a durable rubber that retains its elasticity.

Applications

  • Specially developed for expansion joints in glazing structures.
  • A durable and superbly weather-resistant sealant for façade construction, such as in curtain wall structures.
  • Highly elastic seal for expansion joints in building structures and glazing structures.
  • Seal peripheral joints around sections, windows, door and window frames, panels, boards and prefab and other building components.
  • Glazing compound for top and bead seals in glazing systems in buildings, in accordance with NEN 3576/NPR 3577.
  • Repair compound for damaged silicone joints in façade, building and glazing systems.
  • Suitable for use without primer on coated glass, powder coatings, galvanised steel, stainless steel, coated and anodised aluminium, copper, PVC, PMMA, PC, concrete, masonry and on most other porous and non-porous surfaces.

Properties

  • Durable, retains elasticity, maximum movement capacity of 25%.
  • Excellent weather-resistance, practically unaffected by sunlight, rain, snow, ozone and extreme temperatures, resulting in lasting resistance to ageing.
  • Superior adhesion without primer on all types of building materials.
  • Neutral, acid-free and practically odourless curing, CE-certified silicone system.
  • Meets requirements for intruder-resistant glass, in accordance with the Secure Home Police Label (the “Politie Keurmerk veilig wonen”).
  • Non-corrosive to metals.
  • Compatible in direct contact with PVB-laminated glass and edge seals on insulating glass.
  • Free of organic plasticisers and solvents.
  • Easy to work with, smooth application at low temperatures and limited stringing.
  • Excellent rheology.

Application conditions

  • Application temperature (ambient and surface) between +5°C and +50°C.
  • On clean, uncontaminated, dry, stable, compatible, grease-free and dust-free surfaces.
  • Ensure proper joint dimensions, for proper absorption of any movements.
  • Use a suitable brush to remove any loose particles from the surface.
  • Degrease the surface properly using Seal-it® 510 CLEANER.
  • Seal-it® 214 SILICON-AW has a broad bonding spectrum, but highly porous surfaces should be pre-treated with Seal-it® 520 PRIMER and non-porous surfaces with minimal bonding should be treated with Seal-it® 525 Clean & Bond.
  • Use Seal-it® 550 FINISH to apply a smooth and tight finish, before skin formation.
